Job Club

If you are searching for a job but finding it difficult then the Pulteneytown People's Project Job Club can help. Keeping you updated on what jobs are currently available in Caithness, offering friendly advice on CVs, job searches, and interview techniques, the Job Club is your first stop to employment.

The Job Club runs every Friday from 10am until 5pm at the PPP offices, 45 Murchison Street, Wick.

From 10am until 1pm there is a 'drop-in' where members of the public can come, search for jobs, ask the staff some questions and get hints and tips for job searches and filling in CVs. This time is free for anyone to attend and staff will be on hand to offer assistance.

From 2pm until 4pm half-hour sessions can be booked with members of staff. This will give individual people the best chance to get help in the areas they need, such as CV building, interview techniques, or other areas of job searching. To book a half-hour slot please contact the PPP offices.

The last hour of the day, 4pm to 5pm, will be free computer usage time where you can use the PPP computers and Internet connection to search for jobs or work on your CV.

You can help the PPP give you the best possible assistance in your job hunt by printing off our Job Club Referral Form and filling in the details, bringing it with you when you arrive on Friday.

What Job Club Users Say:

Leslie Leonard recently came to the Job Club and told us how he found the experience: "I came in to get some help with my CV as I’ve just moved up to Wick four months ago.

"I think it’s a really good thing to get perspective on my CV from the outside; someone who will be honest in their appraisal of what I’ve been doing right and wrong.

"I’ll definitely be coming back for as long as it takes me to get a job. I’m going to think about joining one of the computing classes too and get the confidence to go on the Internet and try to find work there. It would be good to get on the web; you really need to embrace technology and it’s difficult to do something like that when you’re my age and never done it before."
