Pulteneytown People’s Project Arts and Crafts Showcase - 30th and 31st July 2011
Pulteneytown People’s Project held its Arts and Crafts Showcase on July 30-31 at Wick Youth Club.
Opening at 10am on Saturday, people started arriving immediately to see the many delightful pieces on display. An incredible 27 artists and craftspeople handed in their masterpieces, proudly exhibiting their artistic visions.
The Showcase was an opportunity for members of the PPP’s arts and crafts groups to bring the work they had been crafting throughout the year and show it to the community. The range of talent on show was staggering, with oil paintings, watercolours, cross stitching, textile art, quilting, card making and pillows all lining the walls and tables.
Throughout both days a raffle was held with top prizes of original artwork by the arts and crafts groups’ tutors, Bettine Bain and Karyn Fraser. Other prizes included bottles of wine, chocolates and smaller treats.
Closing at 4pm on Saturday, the Showcase reopened at 12pm on Sunday to let more people come to see the artwork. Similar to the day before, Sunday was a busy day with members of the public arriving, seeing the Showcase, and then staying for a cup of tea and slice of home baking.
The raffle was drawn on Sunday afternoon at the end of the day and all the artists arrived to claim their paintings and pieces.
